OH.MY.GOODNESS!!!! I've been dying to tell everyone and the time is finally here!!!!
I cannot even begin to tell you how excited we are! Our little ball of joy is due on December 24th which makes the most wonderful time of year SO MUCH MORE WONDERFUL!!! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and I'm just delighted to pieces to be having a Christmas baby - the little adorable newborn pics done Christmas-style, the so-cute-you-could-cry Christmas outfits, the awesome excuse to eat one more (or two or three more) Christmas cookie(s), the cute little baby Christmas stocking we will get to hang this year, and of course, the most amazing Christmas gift we will ever ever ever receive in our lives!! I just can't even begin to express how ecstatic we are to be welcoming little Baby Newsom to our family!!!
Thanks to Pinterest and the super cute Little Baby Garvin blog, I found this idea that I just fell in love with and have to do! I think it is a great way to keep track of a few of the "fun" pregnancy things that we go through and hopefully someday our little baby can go back and see what I was experiencing while he/she was growing!!
So starting with last week....
13 WeeksTotal weight gain/loss: 5-ish pounds
Have we told family or friends: Family, yes! Some friends! And now...everyone!
Maternity clothes: Sooooo comfortable! I'm mostly just wearing my normal clothes with the help of the bellyband (which was a magnificent creation...wish I would've come up with it!), and a few maternity shirts and leggings....all from Holly! (Thanks, Holly!)
Have I started to show yet: Definitely. People at work are starting to congratulate me "because they can tell"...is what I usually here.
Stretch marks: Negative
Sleep: Not so hot...actually I'm too hot, that is the problem. I seriously get so hot at night and can't really get comfortable. Not to mention that I have to pee at least twice a night which isn't helping.
Best moment this week: Announcing our news to the "world"!
Miss anything: Sleeping and being able to walk around without having to worry about getting sick.
Movement: Still too tiny. (But I swear I felt something last night! (Thursday, June 21st))
Food cravings: Oranges. I can't get enough of them!
Anything making me queasy or sick: Finally starting to feel a bit better. The smell of alcohol (on others' breath...obviously not my own!) and the heat set me off right away.
Gender prediction: Still not saying.
Labor Signs: Negative.
Symptoms: You name it and I'm experiencing it! My most obvious symptom, of course, is the baby bump.
Belly button in or out: In!
Belly button ring in or out: In!
Wedding rings on or off: On!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, but also very tired!
Most surprised about: How much I'm showing already!
Looking forward to: Feeling better and going back to the doctor on the 29th.
And catching up on the last couple of weeks/months...
Ok...so I got super sick after Week 6 so even though I had full intentions to take pictures weekly, I was way too sick to even think about doing this so I sort of slacked a bit. I did take two pictures at 11 1/2 weeks and 12 1/2 weeks so I'll include those for good measure, but I'll just have to fill you in on the major highlights between now and then. (Which really isn't that much since I spent most of my time on the couch or sleeping.) Seriously, who ever termed morning sickness "morning sickness" had to be a little mental...or a man...because there was no "morning" about this. We are talking all day every day for the last 6 weeks. NOT FUN! And now you also are up to speed as to why I've been totally MIA on my blog, Facebook and Pinterest...the thought of even looking at the computer (or my phone) made me want to hurl! So improvizing...
12.5 Weeks
Finally starting to feel a little better during Week 12....for the most part any way. I still have episodes throughout the day where I don't feel great or if I don't eat right (and we are talking RIGHT) when I'm hungry then I get sick past the point of no return and I'm out for the rest of the day. BUT for the most part, I'm feeling better! Yay!!
I really "popped" this week. About midway through the week I couldn't wear my normal clothes anymore and I had a harder time "hiding" it from people. Also, prego-brain is real, people! It's amazing how cloudy my brain is about 96.2% of the time these days. [Editor's note: Thus, ignore any errors in this post and the things that don't make sense.]
Ok...my apologies, but that is the last pic I have until Week 6. But, I do have some exciting happenings to share between this picture and my Week 6 picture so here goes....
One of the most exciting moments for us was hearing the heartbeat for the first time which we heard at about 11.5 weeks! It was so amazing - I can't even begin to describe the feeling of hearing that precious heartbeat for the first time!
Baby Newsom received his/her first gift from Aunt Holly, Uncle Tony and Cousin Jaxson!! I (and I know baby will too) loved it...the little dalmation outfit and matching "sleeping buddy" [randmom thought: I'm really going to need to get caught up on all of the baby-jargin out there! Luckily for me, most of the stuff I've seen so far have the cute little name of the item printed on it somewhere. I'm not sure if this is really just an advertising ploy, there specifically to help new moms or possibly even there to help identify the millions of baby-things that will eventually take over my house and keep us from referring to everything as the blue-thingy or green-thingy or whatever!] totally made me cry...it was so darn cute! And so little!!! I really loved it all and it was so sweet! So thank you, Schambers!!
Another super exciting thing for me was telling my family!!! We went to Lincoln, NE for my beautiful and intelligent sister, Holly's, graduation from dental school. My whole family (with the exception of my stepbrothers - who we saw (and told) the following weekend at Autsin's college graduation in Laramie, WY) were there so on Wednesday night (May 3rd) we told everyone. So the plan was to have Kelsie (who we already told) take a picture of the family and say something off-the-wall (rather than just "cheese") to get them used to saying something random. Well, getting the picture was an act of God because of course everybody wanted to be the picture-taker instead of in the picture which obviously would've thrown off the plan. So finally...we got everyone to sit down and Kelsie took the first picture saying "Everyone say 'Tony cooperate!'" (Tony was being the most difficult!)
| Kelsie's picture right before we told everyone! |
At about 6.5 Weeks we had our first ultrasound and got to see our little bundle of joy for the first time!! I loved every minute of it and I cannot wait for the next ultrasound!!
And finally....the last picture!
6 Weeks
How far along: 6 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 4 lbs
Have we told family or friends: Kelsie, Buck, BK and just a few close friends. We are waiting to tell my family in person next week - I'm going crazy!!
Maternity clothes: Still not thinking about it, but I have noticed that every time I look at "normal" clothes I remember I shouldn't be buying anything right now cause I don't know how big I'll be this summer!
Have I started to show yet: Nope.
Stretch marks: Negative
Sleep: Getting better this week - I think my body is getting used to the enormous amount of water I'm drinking.
Best moment this week: Telling Buck and BK! We told Buck and BK on April 22nd at Shoal Creek Saloon (for lunch...no drinks, obviously!) Boon actually told them by discussing/asking their Christmas plans and then telling them that we'd most likely be spending Christmas in the delivery room! They were super surprised! I **LOVE** telling people!!
Miss anything: Not really...at least not yet.
Movement: Still too tiny!
Food cravings: Still craving Panera's Roasted Turkey Apple Crisp Salads.
Anything making me queasy or sick: I'm starting to notice smells more and some of them make me a little uneasy, but nothing too bad yet.
Gender prediction: Still holding out on this one, but I got a text from Kelsie this week and she thinks it will be a girl too. Now that's Girl=2, Boy=0 so far!
Labor Signs: Negative.
Symptoms: Still having twinges and a little groin pain, but not as often as last week. Also, my (earmuffs....or, ummmm, blindfolds) boobs are killing me this week...which I don't mind at all, don't get me wrong! :)
Belly button in or out: In!
Belly button ring in or out: In!
Wedding rings on or off: On!
Happy or moody most of the time: Super happy!!!
Most surprised about: How hard it is to keep it a secret!
Looking forward to: Telling my family and my first ultrasound on May 1st!
5 Weeks
(I don't have a picture, but I already wrote it all down so I'm going to keep it on here!)
How far along: 5 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Actually lost almost a pound...my boot camp trainer says it's because I didn't work out for 1 1/2 weeks and got "soft"...his exact words!
Have we told family or friends: Kelsie!! We will tell BK and Buck tomorrow and are waiting to tell my family in person the first week of May - I'm going crazy!!
Maternity clothes: Don't even want to think about that yet!
Have I started to show yet: Not really...I feel like my "belly" is little more firm to the touch, but it is probably my imagination (or gas, haha!)
Stretch marks: No, thank gosh!
Sleep: Already disrupted! I'm waking up 1-2 times a night for quick restroom trips. I'm not sure if it is actually a pregnancy symptom or the fact that I'm drinking a ton more water during the day.
Best moment this week: Telling Boon and Kelsie!! Obviously Boon knew I had taken a blood test at the doctor's office, but I still wanted to surprise him when I actually found out the good news! (I was so excited I actually wanted to burst, but I figured that wouldn't be good for the baby!!) I told him at Panera's over lunch on April 13th with two adorable little "daddy" outfits and a "Me and My Daddy" picture frame. We told Kelsie the day after we found out (April 14th) at Cheesecake Factory with a cute little poem written in an "I love my Aunt" picture frame! It was so fun!
Miss anything: I kinda-sorta miss my Mexican Martinis, but not so bad that I'm craving it. I think I miss the idea of our Friday night occasion more than anything.
Movement: Not yet, the baby is only the size of a poppy seed!
Food cravings: To my surprise (and complete luck), I'm only craving Panera's Roasted Turkey Apple Crisp Salads. Yum!! I've had 4 since I found out!!
Anything making me queasy or sick: Not really...if I don't eat RIGHT when I'm hungry, I get a little queasy, but not too bad yet.
Gender prediction: Seriously don't know...I hate to say this early, but Boon thinks it'll be a girl (because he wants a boy- haha).
Labor Signs: Oh I hope not!!
Symptoms: Lots of twinges underneath my belly button and slight pains in my groin area. It's actually a little scary, but everything I read says it is normal so I'm hoping that is true!
Belly button in or out: In!
Belly button ring in or out: In!
Wedding rings on or off: On!
Happy or moody most of the time: Super happy!!!
Most surprised about: Feeling so hungry and having to pee so much already!
Looking forward to: Telling our families and my first ultrasound on May 1st!
And that does it for my first (and very long...sorry about that) post about our exciting news! I will do my best to take weekly (or bi-weekly, at the very least) pictures and keep you updated from now on!!! I'm so glad everyone knows now!!
